Non-EU nationals who will stay in Spain for more than ninety days to pursue higher education, vocational training, academic exchange or research programs at authorized centers need a student visa.
EU, EEA and Swiss citizens do not require this visa, although they must process their NIE and other residence procedures once in Spain if their stay exceeds six months.
The application requires, among other documents, a valid passport, completed official form, recent photographs, admission or enrollment certificate from the school, full-coverage health insurance, proof of financial means and a criminal record certificate depending on the consulate.
